The atmosphere creates a homely feel, where diners feel valued and welcomed. The friendliness of the staff is mentioned repeatedly, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Pricing is also a favorable aspect; with plates ranging from £10 to £20, it provides great value without compromising on quality or taste.
Some diners note minor bugs in the restaurant's online menu, pointing out that it feels like it’s still a work in progress. This can lead to confusion about what is available.
Occasionally, the bustling vibe can lead to slower service during peak hours; however, the friendliness of the staff makes up for any wait.
The limited selection of dishes might leave some diners wanting more variety, although the restaurant prides itself on the quality of every plate they offer.
Lovely family-run business. The food was absolutely amazing — full of flavour, fresh, and beautifully presented. Everything is obviously 100% vegan and very well priced. Ming and Kiki were so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better.
I'm vegan, and it's quite rare to find a Chinese vegan restaurant in the UK that doesn’t use the five pungent vegetables. The place has a lovely, homely feel, with fresh ingredients and excellent flavours. I’d highly recommend it to anyone. Ming and Amy are both really friendly – it was a pleasure meeting them!
All reviews prior to this relate to the previous restaurant. This place is now completely refurbished with new owners and is now a vegan Chinese restaurant. I am not vegetarian or vegan but I live locally and will give every new business a try because I think it is important to support and buy from local businesses otherwise they will disappear. Well I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought vegan food would not do it for me but I went with friends and we shared 4 dishes. All of them were dishes with vegan plant based substitutes. We had crispy duck, a squid dish. A beef dish and a mixed sea food dish and I have to say I was impressed. If I had not been told that everything was vegan before eating I honestly don’t think I would have been able to tell. I have to say everything we tried was really nice I will definitely go back again. I would definitely recommend it even if you just want to try the vegan thing.
Been there twice since the new management took over in June 2025 and I’m setting the record straight: Google Maps is clearly buggy. The 1-star reviews belong to the previous restaurant that operated under a different name at the same address. With 33+ years in hospitality and a reputation among thousands of colleagues for being demanding, I know excellence when I taste it. Hey Hey never disappoints — neither in food nor in hospitality. Every dish is prepared with true devotion(虔製), a claim many vegan spots in Hong Kong make, but Hey Hey delivers 100%. Keep up the good work. We’ll be back again and again. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and friendly staff - very reasonably priced and huge variety. You can tell they’ve just opened and doing their best as some things (eg menu online) is in first draft mode, but given this is a new independent restaurant I think they’re doing great, and well worth a visit.
Only one experience so far (take-away) but very impressed with the flavours and quality of the food - actually authentic Chinese rather than the gloopy rubbish we are so used to in the UK and the standard of the meat substitute was amazing (we had char siu pork and the texture and taste were very impressive, not like a lot of fake meat these days which can feel like processed rubber). It does initially seem a little expensive for the portion sizes but when you consider what you are getting and that it is handmade, it is well worth it and very happy to pay a bit more (and wasn't up all night dying of thirst as with poor quality Chinese!) The chips themselves were a little disappointing (texture of oven chips) but the salt and pepper flavouring was really good and I've never had teriyaki sauce like it. Definitely planning to eat in soon as the sizzling dishes look so good! Keep up the good work!
This place is awesome and the people that work there are attentive - they fill up your water straight away and it's clear that it's a labour of love, family business, even when the place is quiet on a Wednesday night as most places are. I would recommend asking who's serving you to tell you about what they make and what their favourite dishes are - I think I will have to go again to sample the range!
